This ribbon vase is strikingly sculptural—more like a small ceramic architecture than a traditional vessel 🏺

It’s built from folded, looping slabs that rise and curl around each other, creating multiple chambers and negative spaces. The form feels intentional yet instinctive, as if the clay was guided into place rather than strictly controlled. The uneven rims and subtle lip-like protrusions add a sense of movement, making the piece feel alive from every angle.

The surface treatment reinforces that feeling. Earthy iron browns dominate the exterior, with rough, almost bark-like textures that suggest weathered wood or oxidized metal. In contrast, the interior pockets reveal flashes of deep teal and blue-green glaze that pool in the recesses—like hidden water inside rock crevices. Those glimpses of color reward closer inspection and make the interior just as important as the outside.

As a vase, it’s versatile but unconventional: it could hold a few single stems distributed among openings, household items, or simply stand on its own as a sculptural object. Overall, it feels raw, expressive, and deeply handmade—a piece that invites slow looking and touch rather than immediate utility.
